My great grandfather raised many many varieties of dahlias back in the early 1900s and sold them and showed them at the county fair Still my favorite flower!! Love your beautiful pictures and would love to continue the family tradition. Thanks!!

Sunflowers have always been my oldest daughter’s favorite flower, she is 36 now.
I’ve been gardening for years and find joy in each season, discovering new varieties of all kinds. As I sit next to her drinking coffee I was showing her your amazing VanGogh sunflowers. I hope to be able to plant them in my front yard one day.
It is exciting to see and hear all that you are doing.

Wow. I’m speechless. I’ve always loved flowers, had my baskets to plant them in, every spring. Last year I planted dahlias and I fell in love. I see all of Steve’s sunflower options and I’m so sad that I missed the seed sales. Stunning. Truly stunning. Hmmm.. I wonder if I should just dig up part of my front yard, and plant flowers!? Flowers >grass . You all are doing an amazing job with your cut flowers. Elba isn’t that far from Maple Valley. I need to explore my own state. I’m surrounded by growers and I truly had no idea

I would plant them on all sides of my house and out back by the pool to brighten the whole yard.
I want to see the faces of my neighbors when they see the unusual variety of sunflowers that spring up :)
Of course, I’ll be gracious and share some and where I got them.

Hi,
I live in the California Central Valley town of Clovis. We can have very hot summers and I have successfully planted hollyhock, morning glory, moss rose/portulaca as ground cover. I recently purchased a couple sunflower seed packets to plant this year along my fence line to cover up and hide faded wood slats. I bought yellow and red/orange varigated varieties. I was more than thrilled when I saw your interview with Sunflower Steve in my email inbox and read about his sunflower journey and his love of growing. So very inspiring to novice flower growers like myself. Steve’s sunflowers are the most unique and beautiful that I have ever seen and would love to attempt to grow some in my CA climate. Only wish and dream that I had a huge plot of land to grow more on. May have to plant in large pots this year as well. I have a friend from church that grows using Floret seeds. She has promised me a tour of her garden soon!!
LOVED the interview and Steve’s sweet personality. It couldn’t have come at a better time. Was going to plant my seeds this week. VERY excited to have sunflowers this year and see the butterflies and humming birds in my yard again.

I’ve been trying to start a large flower garden for two years now with some successes. I would love to incorporate Steve’s beautiful sunflower mix wit my zinnias, dahlias and cosmos! I absolutely love sunflowers. I live in the Florida Panhandle and they do very well here.

This is the first year of my cut flower garden. My garden is in north central Iowa, Zone 5a. I have been following Erin with Floret and Nicole from Flower Hill Farm. Nicole also shared a you tube video of a conversation with Steve. What an amazing story. I’m so happy Floret has connected with Steve’s sunflowers. Between the 2 of you the world will be planting the “seeds of the future.” Thank you Erin for this opportunity.

Sunflowers this special would absolutely need pride of place. In my Hudson Valley, cutting garden, they would occupy the corner where last years compost makes the soil the richest, standing tall in front of the espaliered fruit trees and unruly grapevine

Such stunning sunflowers! For the past few years my town has done a “summer of sunflowers ” town wide event. Residents are encouraged to plant sunflowers in their yards/gardens. My family loves to participate. Sunflowers are such fun and happy flowers. It would be amazing to have some of Steve’s beautiful sunflowers growing in my garden for all who drive by to enjoy!
