You might be able to get sunflowers in June if you started them now but Black Eyed Susans can take around 100-120 days to mature so they will be ready for harvest later in the summer. I’m not sure about the others though.

I live in the Santa Cruz mountains on the SF peninsula in California. Would it be possible to have sunflowers, lazy susans from seed by then if I start seeds indoors now? Or will I need to get these from a florist? I see coriopsis won’t flower from seed till second year – is this true?

Next question is that I fell in love with a flower I saw in Switzerland – blue globe thistle or Echinops bannaticus. I got some seeds last year but not a one grew. Would it be possible to get flowers from this plant by mid June?

Thank you

The Pro Cut series are non-branching so don’t pinch those ones. Pinching information can be found on the description pages for each variety in our Shop.

Question.. are all the sunflowers in this article branching? Are there any that are single stem and cannot be pinched? I got the Greenburst, Ruby Eclipse, and pro cut red seed varieties from you guys and want to make sure I don’t pinch any that are single stem! Haha!

We aren’t offering Sunflower Steve’s seeds but I’d suggest signing up for his Newsletter so you can stay in the loop about when he’s offering them. We love their seeds!

I’m in North East Washington State, a beautiful little mining town called Republic! I’m originally from Arlington . My mothers family lived in Skagit county. My question is about Sunflower Steve’s new Van Gogh Fantasy mix and any new blends. I thought he mentioned you as a seed source. Will you be selling them this spring? If so, which month? I missed his seeds last year . I order many many of your beautiful seeds. I bought all of your books too. We are 2-3 hours from a big town. No garden center here. I try to grow as many varieties of sunflowers and other cut flowers as i can. I need to get Dahlias too. My little mountain community come to me for annuals- perennials and seeds. I turned the old 1800’s miners cabin into a cottage- The Vintage Cottage. I sell vintage and new garden decor. This spring I’m completing the landscaping around cottage. Thank you , and I’m so so happy your business is fabulous!! I can’t wait until last 2 ft of snow is gone!! Sincerely, Carla Kalma, The Vintage Cottage

We documented how tall the stems got as they started to surpass my height. Then my grandma passed and I was heart broken. As I took some time at home after that, the flowers opened and brought me so much joy in such a time of sorrow. I have loved sunflowers ever since. I can’t wait to plant the two floret varieties I just received this coming year.

They bit the delicate stem in half and left. Didn’t eat the seed or anything. Really disappointed me and my kids.
